Chilliwack native and Simon Fraser University track athlete Lorenzo Smith was recognized for academic achievement this week, named a recipient of a 2014 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Faculty Athletic Representative Award.
Smith earned a 4.22 grade point average in biomedical physiology.
This is the second year that the award has been presented to the most outstanding scholar-athletes at each of the GNAC’s 10 universities.
Smith also won last year.
To qualify for the award, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.85. All student-athletes listed on any GNAC squad list, regardless of whether the sport is an officially recognized sport by the GNAC, are eligible for the award.
