The Castlegar Rebels have added defenceman Adam Ferreira to their team this season.
The 18-year old played his last two seasons with the Kamloops Storm and piled up an impressive 22 points over 87 games.
Head coach Carter Duffin said Ferreira will be a huge asset to the team.
“He’s a guy that’s going to come in and add another element of consistency and reliability on our back end as we look to improve our team,” said Duffin.
“This was just an excellent opportunity and we’re excited to have him.”
Ferreira stands 6 feet one inch tall and weighs approximately 195 pounds. He joins a number of experienced Rebels on the ice this season.
“Ferreira joins nine other hockey players on the team that have played in the league before. We only have nine players that are new this season,” said Duffin.
“With so many seasoned players like him, it’s really advantageous for us as a team to have guys coming back and continuing to build on our culture and playing style. We’re looking forward to seeing them all succeed this year.”
With the KIJHL taking extra safety protocols around COVID-19 this season, Ferreira has to wait two weeks before he can hit the ice as a Rebel in December.
The Rebels hold a 1-1 record since they started their season on Nov. 13.
