The Men’s Golf Club at the Alberni Golf Course is making some major changes for the 2019 season.
First of all our main focus is to increase our membership and making sure everyone has a good time.
The organizing committee for the Men’s Club for the 2019 season comprises Craig Acland, Al Wright, Brian Tall, Ted Stewart, Bruce MacDonald, Mike Savard, Matt Mesic, Kyle Luchinski and Gerry Fagan, with head pro Brian Rands as advisor.
The dues will be $20 for the year, plus $10 for every event you enter. Newcomers won’t be expected to play every Sunday, but there will be an event going on every week, if you choose to participate.
There will be very few shotgun starts, five at the most; the rest of the Sundays will be tee times. Depending on the Pro Shop, the times will be from 7 or 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m.
Some will be sponsored events, others will be open days. However, if you win a prize you won’t receive it until the following week due to the later tee times. As soon as the scoring is done you will receive an email listing the winners and the prizes can be picked up in the Pro Shop. Most of the events with the exception of one or two, you can choose your own playing partners.
Everyone playing in the Men’s Club must have an established handicap. To enter any of the events you must play with other Men’s Club members. Putting out is mandatory in all Men’s Club events.
Guests are welcome to play in the Men’s Club, they will have to pay green fees, for a reduced rate of $42. Guests must have a registered handicap to enter any of the competitions.
Each event will have gross and net prizes with the higher percentage of prizes going to the net side.
For the first time, in the Men’s Club you can compete in all events, from whichever tee you want, yellow, red, white or blue, as long as you adjust the factor and handicap to coincide with the tee you are playing from.
The Pro Shop will gladly accept your Men’s Club dues and issue you a receipt, at any time.
