A pair of Alberni Valley Blazers girls’ softball teams are gold medal winners after competing in their respective provincial championships over the July 14–15 weekend.

The U16C Blazers finished first in the gold pool ahead of Quesnel Wildfire in second and Mission Mayhem in third at the provincial championships in Maple Ridge.

No final results were available before the News’ print edition went to press.

The U14C Blazers were in Duncan, B.C., where they also won their championship.

Their final game was a nailbiter: tied until the Blazers hit in the winning run.

The U14 C Blazers won bronze in the B Pool in the 2017 provincial championships, which they hosted at Echo Fields in Port Alberni.
