The flooding in Alberta has resulted in the cancellation of this Saturday’s men’s roller derby bout and a change of opponents for the Revelstoke Derailers.
The Derailers were scheduled to take on the Kill Jills from Calgary on Saturday. As well, the Calgary Reservoir Dogs men’s team were set to face the Vancouver Murder. However, due to the flooding in Alberta, the two Calgary teams will not be able to make it to Revelstoke.
As a result, the men’s bout is cancelled but the women’s bout will go on, with the Sun City Sirens from Kelowna taking the place of the Kill Jills.
Tennille ‘Kernel Panic’ Barber told the Times Review that the Calgary teams’ practice space inside a Calgary women’s shelter was flooded. The teams are focusing on the recovery and decided to cancel.
Barber said some of the proceeds from this Saturday’s bout will go to the Calgary women’s shelter.
The bout takes place Saturday, June 29, at 6 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance from Society Snow & Skate, Mane Attraction, Ray’s Butcher Shop and The Regent Hotel; or $10 at the door.
