The Aldergrove Kodiaks are bound for the provincial junior B hockey championships next week in Creston, after defeating Delta Ice Hawks 3-2 in the final Pacific Junior Hockey League championship series Tuesday night.
It was the sixth game in the final series, after Delta took a pair of wins to put a stop to Aldergrove sweeping the series. Aldergrove had won the first three games in the best-of-seven series and finally won the fourth game in front of a capacity crowd at Ladner Leisure Centre.
Delta had put up quite a battle, and Tuesday’s game was a nail-biter. The teams were tied 2-2 after the second period and it took a scoreless third period and double overtime before Aldergrove finally sealed the deal halfway through the second overtime period.
