The Aldergrove Kodiaks crushed the Ridge Meadows Flames 7-1 on Friday evening to take the lead in the Pacific Junior Hockey League.
After a scoreless first period the Kodiaks dominated the last two frames, with four unanswered goals in the second period and three more in the third before the Flames responded with a power play goal to close the game’s scoring.
Scoring for Aldergrove were Eric Callegari, Max Duchnycz, Ryleigh Anderson, Clayton Schroeder (on a power play), Jacob De Waal, Duchnucz, and Jacob Ruck. Flame Brandon Galbraith scored their only goal, also on a power play.
Assists came from Quinncy Leroux (2), Anderson (3), Joshua Poitras (2), Kurt Kilmek, Arjan Cheema, Cameron Davitt, Kyle Bosko (2), Ryan Martel, Callegari and Clayton Schroeder.
The Kodiaks outshot the Flames 38-28 and both teams scored one on four power plays each. Kodiaks keeper Dawson Rodin was named game first star for stopping 27 of the shots on his goal. Kodiak Anderson was second star, while Flame Galbraith was third star.
The result improves the Kodiaks to 24 points after 15 games, with the most wins (12) and fewest losses (3) in the league.
The Kodiaks hosts Richmond Sockeyes Wednesday, Nov. 2, 7:15 p.m. at Aldergrove Arena.
