Sheila and Bob Dale moved to B.C. from Manitoba in 1967. After 25 years working in Vancouver, Bob retired from B.C. Tel and Sheila from The Province (newspaper), in 1993. The couple moved to Parksville from White Rock in July, 1996 and joined PGOSA in the spring of 1997.
The Dales curl in both curling clubs, Parksville and Qualicum Beach, where they have also volunteered for various events, bonspiels and provincials competitions when held in these clubs. They have also curled in many PGOSA bonspiels over the years.
While with PGOSA, Sheila was vice president in 2003-2004, president in 2004-2005 and then past president the following year. During her 19 years with PGOSA she has chaired many events such as the Strawberry Tea and Fashion shows, many golf tournaments, Canada Day parade, RV outings, ‘90s luncheons, Picnic in the Park and Salmon BBQ to Halloween/Octoberfest dinner/dances and Christmas dinner/dances.
Bob chaired the cycling group and was wine steward and helped with all the activities that Sheila chaired.
“Our many years with PGOSA have been most rewarding with fun times,” says Sheila.
In addition, they have both volunteered with the SPCA and Canadian Cancer Society since 1997.
With SPCA. Bob and Sheila started by helping with their fundraising flea markets and for many years now, they have organized two or three sales a year. Presently they hold two large sales a year.
With the Canadian Cancer Society, Sheila started helping the campaign chair for its April campaign in 1997.
This soon led to working in the local unit office, heading the April campaign for many years as president of the unit, while continuing to help in the office until the local office was closed. Bob helped in many ways during the annual April campaigns.
Parksville and PGOSA are so fortunate to have dedicated community volunteers such as Bob and Sheila Dale.
