The Revelstoke Ski Club was in action all over B.C. the past few weeks.
The U16’s travelled to Red Mountain in Rossland from Feb 2-5. Sophia Humphreys, Jenna Knight, Colm Molder, Nolan Gale, John Sidjak and Lowell Schmidt competed in two days of slalom and two days of giant slalom. The conditions, with cool temperatures and lots of fresh snow, made for challenging racing but the kids persevered and had some respectable finishes.
These enthusiastic U16 racers are off to Whistler early in March to vie against the best in the province on the Parsons downhill course for Super G.
This past weekend saw the Revelstoke Ski Club host the annual Okanagan zone race for U12 and U14 skiers, welcoming clubs from Apex, Big White, Silver Star and Sun Peaks.
The weather cooperated and provided cool temperatures which made for great racing. This was our first time using the Cannonball extension of Feller Buncher at RMR. The new race hill received top marks from visiting athletes and coaches and is sure to be a preferred race course for years to come.
Our local racers proved that their hard work has paid off as they posted some excellent results racing head to head against the Okanagan’s finest athletes.
U12 girls: Nora Sidjak – 4th & 5th in GS, 2nd & 3rd in slalom.
U12 boys: Reed Kelly – 1st & 8th in GS, 2nd & 3rd in slalom; Parker Aucoin –11th in slalom.
U14 girls: Sydney Musseau – 8th in slalom; Esther Vile – 9th in slalom.
U14 boys: Alex Jay – 1st in GS.
U14 boys: Teigan Lenzi – 14th in GS, 9th in slalom, and the most improved award.
A big thank you to all of the local and visiting volunteers who made this big event a huge success.
The U14 Provincials is just around the corner in Big White this year so we are looking forward to hearing some excellent results from this event.
