The Imagine Pools Anarchy dream season came to a close in Calgary after an eventful weekend on the diamond.

The Anarchy finished fifth at the Coed D slo-pitch Nationals.

The Anarchy got off to a hot start in round-robin play with wins over three Albertan teams, Caveman Transport, the Chiefs and the Pop Flyers.

They dropped their next game to Derelict, the eventual bronze medalists.

The round-robin games were of the low scoring, defensive variety, not like the slo-pitch games they were accustomed to.

The Anarchy dropped their playoff opener 13-9 to the Wrecking Crew, who went on to win the gold medal.

Down in the losers’ bracket, the Anarchy rattled off back-to-back wins, 9-4 and 7-2, to become the final B.C. team standing.

In their final game on Sunday, the Anarchy fell to the Albertan provincial champion, Ampt. 20-10 during a stormy game.

The team got great pitching from Don Prowse, Garth Gartner and Kurt Roberts. The outfield was defended by Braden Robertson, Todd Doyle, Sheila Martin and Kurt Roberts. The infield was held strong by Cortnay Solmes, Jenny Gartner, Courtney Bissell, Jessica Sinclaire, Tracy Bell, Taryn Robertson, Gartner and Kurt Roberts.

“I’m very proud of our team, we played and acted like champs,” said Anarchy coach Brandon Solmes.

The Anarchy now turn their attention to the Co-ed Qualifier in Vernon at the end of August.

Sponsors Imagine Pools and Waterscapes, Kal Sportsbar and Sleeman Breweries made the trip possible.
