Zach Andrusiak pocketed a pair of goals, including the winner, as the North Okanagan Knights brushed off the Kelowna Chiefs 4-1 in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League play Friday night at Nor-Val Sports Centre.
Andrusiak’s first of the night, and sixth on the year, capped a two-goal first period for the 5-25-1-2 Knights. Austin Fournier, with his ninth, opened the scoring at 5:30, assisted by Andrusiak and Jordan Passmore.
After a scoreless second frame, the 12-17-2-1 Chiefs cut the lead to one on a snipe by Dakota Kittle, his seventh.
Andrusiak (7th goal) and Dallas Keller (3rd) completed the scoring in support of Mitch Profeit, who finished with 35 saves for his fifth win.
The 18-year-old Profeit’s 1,527 minutes played are 131 more than the next nearest netminder (Chase’s Michael Byer has played 1,396 minutes), and his 966 shots faced also top the 20-team loop.
Chris Turner had 28 stops for Kelowna.
The Knights finish a three-game home stand today (3 p.m.) at Nor-Val Sports Centre against the Princeton Posse (13-12-2-2). They visit the Chase Heat (12-14-2-5) Wednesday night at Art Holding Memorial Arena.
The host Posse bowed 4-1 to league powerhouse Osoyoos Coyotes (26-5-0-1) Friday night.
