Sicamous Minor Softball will be hosting the U12B Squirt Girls Provincial Softball Championship this weekend in Finlayson Park.
The teams arrive on Thursday from all over the province and the championship starts at 8 a.m. on Friday morning.
Round robin games continue all day Friday and Saturday, with the playoff round scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Saturday night, and continuing through Sunday afternoon.
The opening ceremony and skills competition is slated for Friday night at 6 p.m.
The host D Dutchmen Dairy Angels have been busy preparing for the provincial championship by attending several tournaments in the Lower Mainland. After posting a five win, one loss record and a third-place finish out of 14 teams in Surrey last month, the Angels are well positioned to contend for a medal at this year’s championship.
The community is invited to come out and cheer on the Angels and watch the opening ceremony and skills competition Friday night. The Sicamous Angels play at noon and 4 p.m. on Friday, and 8 a.m. and noon on Saturday. All Sicamous games will be on Diamond #3 in Finlayson Park.
