Applications are being accepted for young curlers from across the country.
Ten $1,000 scholarships are available through Curling Canada’s For the Love of Curling program.
“We have some amazing young athletes in our sport, but they need this kind of support to pursue their curling dreams,” said Greg Stremlaw, the CEO of Curling Canada.
“Being able to offer these scholarships is another example of how we’re continuing to build our sport and maintain our position as the world’s leading curling nation.”
The scholarships are open to young curlers who plan to study at a Canadian university or college. The scholarships are funded by donors and curlers across the country.
The scholarships can be used to help the recipients cover a portion of their education and curling costs.
Emphasis will be placed on athletes who have competed at the provincial/territorial level or higher; who have maintained a good level of academic standing; and athletes who show a commitment to curling through their involvement in coaching, instructing and/or volunteer activities. Athletes must be 23 or younger as the end of 2015, and former recipients of the For The Love of Curling scholarships are not eligible.
The application process runs through to June 30 and the scholarship recipients will be announced in August.
