The Williams Lake Sportsmen’s Association Clubhouse was bustling with activity during the weekend for the Cariboo Archers’ Flatfield 3D Shoot.
Forty-one archers from throughout the region took in the sunshine and beautiful weather during the weekend for the shoot, which saw competitors take to a flatfield course situated near the WLYSA clubhouse.
This year a new hunter course was designed by Cariboo Archer Dan Mobbs, which saw archers compete over 10 shots where a score of 11, 10 or eight (a kill) would reward the shooter with a plus-10 score. A miss, or a score of five, would dock the competitors 10 points.

• Lorne Baron – first in master’s recurve
• Fred Streleoff – first in men’s recurve
• Melanie McComber – second in ladies’ recurve
• Sharon Allan – first in ladies’ longbow
• Ty Waterhouse – first in cub male compound
• Elijah Walker – second in cub male compound
• Freja Pare – first in pre-cub compound
• Bob Thurow – third in men’s compound fixed pins
• Lee Jackman – first in men’s compound fixed pins
• Kylie Sharman – first in cadet compound
• Alexis McComber – second in cadet compound
The Cariboo Archers are also now busy laying the groundwork to host the BC Archery Provincials for the second consecutive year.
Lee Jackman, president of the Cariboo Archers, said work has already begun on setting up the WLSA grounds for the event.
“We’ve got it all pretty much flagged out already,” he said. “We started working on it early this year.”
On hosting the event last year, Jackman said feedback received was positive.
“I think everyone enjoyed it,” he said. “It’s a lot of work but we’re looking forward to it again.”
This year’s BC Archery Provincials are slated for June 22-23.
