Fred Albrechtson is a Grade 11 student at Penticton Secondary School and dedicated cross-country runner and skier.
Albrechtson started on the cross-country skiing team in Grade 6 and the cross-country running team in Grade 9. He recently placed first in the Campbell Mountain 9K with a time of 36 minutes, beating the second place competitor by 28 seconds.
His next race will be Oct. 23 in order to qualify for the 2018 Provincial Cross Country Championships on Oct. 27 in Abbotsford.
“It will be a fun race (in Merritt), I’m excited for that one,” said Albrechtson. “I’m just going to do what I can in the race, I think it’s 6.5 km and my average time for that is 22 minutes.”
