There were flying fists and ground and pound, all at the same time.
The West Coast Combat Championships were held Sunday at Cilaire Elementary School and the action was fast, with up to four matches in different disciplines being held at the same time on the mats in the school gym.
Nanaimo’s CJ Martial Arts and Fitness co-hosted the event along with West Coast Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu of Vancouver.
The event featured standup sparring, submission grappling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
