Mackinley Whalen scored twice in each of the first two periods of play and added four assists throughout the game for an eight-point outing as the Campbell River Atom Hurricanes took down the visiting Peninsula Eagles squad 14-2 Sunday afternoon at Strathcona Gardens.
The girls played a clean game from start to finish, not once sending a player to the penalty box throughout the entire game.
Other players to make the scoresheet were Kai Hyatt, who found the back of the net five times, Emma Deagle, who added a pair of goals, Kaylie Riecker, who added a goal and an assist and Elizabeth Bettenson, who opened the scoring for the Hurricanes just over half way through the first period. Dexter Manrique added an assist.
The next action for the team is this coming weekend, when they travel to Peninsula for a rematch against the Eagles. Their next home game is Dec. 3 at 4:45 p.m. at Strathcona Gardens.
