Life on the road last week went from good to bad to ugly for the Sicamous Eagles.
On Wednesday the Eagles were in Armstrong where they defeated the North Okanagan Knights 3-1.
The teams were well-matched throughout the evening, but had the scoring edge. First goal of the game came at 15:11 in the first period on a power play from Connor Buick, assisted by Brayden Taekema and Brendan Devries. Scoring came early in the second period with a goal at 18:12 from Brendan Devries, Taekema provided the assist. Teammate Connor Fynn put in the second goal of the period, assisted by Devries and Brett Bretitkreuz, giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead going into the third frame.
The Knights were able to muster one goal in the third period, but no more. Devries and Fynn were named first and second star, respectively.
On Saturday, the Eagles were in Fernie where they suffered a 5-4 defeat to the Ghostriders.
Sicamous was first on the board with a hard-fought goal that didn’t come until 1:17 from Buick, aided by Taekema and Devries.
Teammate Corbin Marcotte followed suit early in the second frame, but the Ghostriders were able to tie things up in the first half of the period.
In the third period, Matt Reed took the rebound from a Fernie tie-breaker, tying the game at 3-3, but the Ghostriders took the lead at the half way point and held onto it until they scored once more with only 18 seconds left on the clock. Marcotte was named third star for the game.
Sunday saw the Eagles in Kimberley, where they were obliterated 10-3 by the Dynamiters.
Two Sicamous goals came back-to-back late in the first period from Corbin Marcotte (unassisted) and Brad Crump (Marcotte). Their final goal came in the third period from an unassisted shot by Reed.
