Curling fans eager to find out who will be playing in the 2019 provincial championships in Quesnel this winter can start constructing their banners for a few of their favourite teams.

As the 2018-2019 B.C. Men’s and Women’s Curling Tours have wrapped up, the final standings have helped determine a few of the berths.

Last season’s men’s champions, Abbotsford’s Team Geall (Sean Geall, Jeff Richard, Andrew Nerpin and David Harper) as well as last season’s women’s champs, Nanaimo/ Parksville’s Team Van Osch (Kesa Van Osch, Kalia Van Osch, Marika Van Osch and Amy Gibson) will each receive automatic placements in the championships.

The top B.C. Men’s and Women’s team in the Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) also receive automatic berths into the championships.

Kelowna/Vernon’s Team Cotter (Jim Cotter, Steve Laycock, Tyrel Griffith and Rick Sawatsky) and Kamloops Team Brown (Corryn Brown, Erin Pincott, Dezeray Hawes and Ashely Klymchuk) will both qualify.

The final eight teams that will be headed for Quesnel to compete in the 2019 B.C. Men’s Curling Championship will be determined at regional and open playdowns, while the final four teams competing in the Scotties B.C. Women’s Curling Championship will be determined at two open playdowns.
