Local golf coach Kathy Gook is starting a girls golf club beginning Aug 17, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. which runs to the end of September. Girls will learn and play golf in a fun, friendly atmosphere. Recently, Gook travelled as a provincial coach for Team B.C. to the Canadian Junior Girls Golf Championship in Yorkton, Saskatchewan where the B.C. team did fantastic, winning the inter-provincial championship, the junior championship title and the juvenile title. “Seven of our girls were in the top 10 at the championship,” Gook said. “I would really like to grow the number of girls playing golf here in Quesnel and this encouraging news about B.C. girl golfers should be an inspiration to local youth female golfers.”
