B.C. slips Tuesday with two losses at Brier

Jim Cotter's Vernon/Kelowna rink falls to 2-4 after defeats to Quebec and Team Canada at Canadian men's curling in Ottawa

Two losses at the 2016 Brier Tuesday in Ottawa have left B.C.’s Jim Cotter rink facing an uphill battle.

The Vernon/Kelowna foursome lost to both Quebec and Team Canada today to fall to 2-4 at the Canadian men’s curling championship.

With five games remaining, B.C. can afford only more defeat, at most, if it plans on having a shot at making the playoffs.

Quebec’s Jean-Michel Menard scored a deuce in the 10th end to edge Cotter 6-5 in the morning draw.

In the afternoon, Pat Simmons and his Team Canada rink defeated the Okanagan team 8-4.

Cotter’s undoing came in the fourth end when Simmons scored five for a 5-2 lead.

Cotter, third Ryan Kuhn, second Tyrel Griffith and lead Rick Sawatsky have two games on Wednesday against Alberta’s Kevin Koe and Mike McEwen from Manitoba.
