The North Okanagan Bantam B Division local lacrosse rivals met Tuesday night with the B1 Legends besting the B2s 9-3 at Wesbild Centre.
The B1 boys jumped out to an early 4-0 lead on two goals by Tyler Riva and one each from Shelby Conners and Tanner Francis-Gilbert. The B2 Legends stayed in touch with a marker from Seth Waterstreet to make it 4-1 after the first period.
The B1 Legends netted four more in the second period by Francis-Gilbert, Riley Swiscoski, Chase Bronson and Thomas Mackeiwich against one by Seth Halvorson of the B2s.
The B1 Legends cruised through the third period with one more goal from Connors, while Sean Howard replied for the B2s.
In Pee Wee B1 action, the Legends parlayed a three-goal effort by Randall Toop into an 8-5 win over the Kelowna Kodiaks Sunday at Wesbild Centre.
Nathaniel Foster (2+1), Caedon Bellmann (2G) and Jaxxon Collard rounded out the offence, with Jacob Brewer and Ethan Lavoie each adding an assist.
The Legends came out fired up, earning period leads of 4-1 and 7-4. Netminder Brayden Leveille stopped a pair of third-period breakaways to keep the Legends ahead.
Said coach Casey Sherriff: “It was a great game for the kids and with some good practices this week, we will be ready for a couple of tough games on the weekend against Penticton and Nicola Valley.”
The Novice 1 Gilbert Auto Parts/Armstrong Co-Op crew toppled host Kamloops 5-3 last weekend at Memorial Arena.
Nathan Tishenko was stellar in net for the Auto Parts gang. Peyton Storey started the scoring with just 34 seconds left in the first period.
Kohl Killingbeck (from Jacob Fox) and Tye Krause (from Killingbeck) added unanswered goals in the second to make it 3-0 after two periods.
Storey added two snipes in the third for his hat trick.
Gilbert Auto Parts/Armstrong Co-op bowed 12-8 to Kelowna #2 at Nor-Val Sports Centre.
Kelowna racked up an 8-2 lead after one period with Krause and Storey getting the Legends’ goals.
Storey pocketed a pair and Krause another single in the second before the Legends regrouped for the third period and shut out Kelowna. Krause (from Ephran Potter-Cramer), Storey and Killingbeck completed the offence.
The Novice 2 Just Rocks fell 6-4 to the Penticton Heat and 6-4 to Kelowna last weekend.
Wyatt Anderson, Joey Mazzei, Jayden Wied and Cody Beckner scored against the Heat, while Jaret Cooper (2), Jacob Defeo and Mazzei recorded snipes versus Kelowna. Cooper earned the Charlie Hustle Award in his two-goal showing.
“I’m very proud of how well the boys are working together, smiling lots and gelling as a team,” said Just Rocks’ coach Joe Mazzei.
