Playoffs are over for the Terrace Women’s Indoor Soccer league, and the Back Eddy ladies team has taken the top spot.
The final game was played March 29 against the Janga Jungle.
“The Janga Jungle came out strong in the first half, taking the lead with the first two goals scored,” said Jodie Meek, team manager for the Back Eddy.
She said the Back Eddy team fought back to tie the game up, with the second half of the game belonging to the team, as all of the Back Eddy players shared in the scoring and brought the team to an 11-5 win over the Janga Jungle.
Top goal scorer for the regular season was Alex Tsardidis with 84 goals.
The game wraps up the 2010/2011 season for the league, which according to Nina Peden, public relations for the league, was a bit of a challenge this year due to low membership.
“We had a real struggle this year with the teams trying to keep their numbers up,” Peden said.
She said the league hopes to grow its membership for the next indoor season.
Next on the agenda for ladies soccer is the startup of the outdoor season May 24.
Anyone interested in joining is invited to attend the league’s annual general meeting April 26 7 p.m. at the Terrace Public Library.
“If people are interested in just coming out and asking general questions, they are welcome to come do that,” Peden said.
Registration for the outdoor season will be May 3 – 5 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Terrace Aquatic Centre.
