The Silverbacks seesaw season continued over the weekend on the road as they played three games in three days.

The ’Backs earned  four-of-six possible points in games against Powell River, Nanaimo and Coquitlam.

In Powell River Friday, the Kings scored three unanswered goals before Marcus Mitchell cut the lead to two.

Trevin Kozlowski made his third start in a row, as he looked to build off his recent string of strong performances.

Brandon Kegler started the third in relief of Kozlowski after giving up five goals through forty minutes of play.

Cameron Trott scored his first of the season on a blast from the point, though it was only a consolation marker as the Kings won 6-2.

Twenty-four hours after Friday’s matchup, the ’Backs hit the ice on the Island for the first time this season against the Clippers.

The Silverbacks forced overtime for the second game this month and once again Elijiah Barriga proved to have the answer in extra time, scoring his team high, ninth goal of the season.

Aidan Casey and Jake Harris put the Silverbacks in a 2-0 hole after the first frame, but Josh Blanchard and Trott scored in response to tie in the second.

Adam Pilotte put the home side ahead in the third but ’Backs captain Mitch Skapski came through with the tying goal, forcing overtime.

Just over a minute into the second overtime period Barriga buried a feed from Carson Bolduc in the slot for the winner.

Both sides fired 37 shots on goal but Kegler did one better than his counterpart Austin Roden from the Clips’, making 34 saves.

Less than 24 hours later the Silverbacks returned to the ice, this time in the Lower Mainland for a matinee against the Express.

Bolduc’s fourth goal of the season, a power-play marker, kicked off the scoring for the Silverbacks midway through the first, and marked the first time the ’Backs scored the first goal in a contest since Oct. 18.

The ’Backs doubled their lead six minutes later when Justin Wilson fired home his third of the year. Skapski added another power-play marker for the visitors as they earned 3-0.

Kegler made 22 saves for his first shutout of the year and earned the first Star of the Game in his second win in as many days.

With two games left in the month of October, the Silverbacks now sit in fourth place in the Interior Division and will look to continue gaining ground on Vernon and Merritt.

The ‘Backs will travel to Trail to face the Smokies, Friday where they lost 4-1 earlier this month.

Salmon Arm will host Victoria Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Shaw Centre.
