The Ballenas Whalers senior football team is in fine form heading towards the regular season after rolling over Pitt Meadows 44-0 last Friday.

Brendan Harstad hauled in two touchdown passes from quarterback Brody Seselja, who took over for starting QB Garrin McDonnel (out due to illness). Seselja would also run one in for a touchdown himself, as the Whalers earned the win. Running backs Matt Price, Dayton Coles and Austen Hunt also scored for the Whalers, getting great blocking from their offensive line all game.

International student Jean Pierre Alof (from Germany) also entered the game due to the absence of McDonnel as the Whalers place kicker. Having never kicked a football in his life, Alof took his soccer skills and used them to help with kicking duties for the Whalers. Senior players Noah Wheatley, Jonah Hay and Steve Martin all led the Whalers in tackling on defense.

— In junior action, the Whalers beat the Holy Cross Crusaders by a score of 22-2. There will be a double-header on October 3 as the juniors and seniors take on the Belmont Bulldogs (juniors at noon, seniors at 3 p.m.).
