Vernon’s Mackenzie Barrie held seventh place heading into the third and final round of the B.C. Juvenile Girls Golf Championships Thursday at the Princeton Golf Club.
In a field of 16, Barrie shaved a stroke off her opening round 8-over-par 81 to sit at 15-over (161) after Wednesday’s action. She collected eagles on a pair of par-5 holes on the front nine, to go along with a birdie on No. 10 in Round 2. However, she added five double bogies to finish with an 80.
Surrey’s Annie Lee recorded 75-70 to take the lead heading in the final day, three strokes ahead of Richmond’s Janet Zhang, and five up on Maple Ridge’s Keanna Mason.
Meanwhile, Coldstream’s Matt McEachran-Law is the lone North Okanagan golfer to make the cut at the B.C. Juvenile Boys tourney in Princeton.
McEachran-Law, a member of the Vernon G&CC, fired opening rounds of 77-75 to sit at 8-over 152 heading into the final round Thursday.
Coquitlam’s Henry Lee (68-71) holds a four-stroke lead over a trio tied for second place – Dewdney’s Jake Scarrow (70-73), Vancouver’s Patrick Tan (72-71) and North Van’s Roy Kang (74-69).
Vernon’s Russell Day (94-82) and Coldstream’s Austin Bosquet (96-81)missed the cut.
