Barriere Bruins win against Kamloops

The Barriere Bruins played the Kamloops U16 boys last Wednesday winning 14-8

Georgia Clough is a pitcher and 3rd baseman for the Bruins. She has been playing ball in Barriere for the last 7 years and pitching for the last 4. Last year she had the opportunity to play in the girls U12 B Provincials with the Kelowna “Heat”. She was so impressive playing at the “B” level that the Tri City Titans picked her up to go to the girls U12 A Provincials. It is expected that she will play in the Provincials with both teams again this year. She has helped Barriere teams to a silver and a bronze medal in two of the last three years of Provincial Championships for her age group. Georgia is a dedicated, talented fastball player gaining recognition as one of the best pitchers, her age, in the Province.

The Barriere Bruins played the Kamloops U16 boys last Wednesday winning 14-8 in an error filled game.  Liam Hunt hit his first home run of the season leading the Bruins offence which was more than a little stagnant after blitzing through the Knock’em Outa the Park tournament.

The Stamer Logging U12 team hosted Kamloops last Thursday.  The Barriere kids made a late  charge scoring five runs in their last at bat but came up a little short losing 12-9.

The Barriere Giants U10 team played their first game of the season and played very well in 7-0 loss.

Kallen Ross, Kaden Johnson, Linden Ransome and Danica Ransome each pitched an  inning for the Giants.  Kadence Harris was one inch away from catching the teams first pop fly out of the season.  Next time Kadence.

The Giants will play in a Clearwater tournament June 3rd and 4th.

With our U14 registration reaching 20, Barriere Minor Ball will have two teams participating in  the U14 Provincials July 7-9 in Barriere.

The plan will be for the Bruins to split into two evenly  competitive teams with the second team wearing the green and gold Barriere Cedar King jerseys.

Bruin’s pitcher, Georgia Clough travelled to Seattle, Washington, with the Tri-City Titans U14  “A” team out of Coquitlam on the May 13, 14 weekend.

In three appearances, Georgia pitched 14  innings giving up three runs.  She is playing exceptional ball against some exceptional teams out of  the U.S.A.

Barriere Minor Ball is very proud to call Georgia one of our own.  Keep up the good  work, kid.

Fans of fastball, friends, and family should take the opportunity to watch Georgia play at the  U14 Provincials in Barriere July 7-9.
