BC Summer Games torch-lighting tonight in Duncan

Today marks 100 days until the Cowichan 2018 BC Summer Games kicks off.

Today marks 100 days until the Cowichan 2018 BC Summer Games kicks off.

To celebrate this milestone, a torch-lighting event will be held in the parking lot of the BC Forest Discovery Centre and Cowichan Regional Visitor Centre on April 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

“We have some special guests to help us light the torch,” said Jennifer Woike, President Cowichan 2018 BC Summer Games.

“Bill Keserich and Richard Peters (honourary Games Chairs), Special Olympics athlete Jenny Scholefield, as well as local 2018 BC Winter Games medal-winning athlete Brookyln Stobbe will be helping with the lighting of the torch. Global BC’s Jay Janower will be master of ceremonies for the line-up up of entertainment which includes the Tzinquaw Dancers, 2017 Victoria youth poet laureate Maita Cienska and Jesse Roper, to name a few.”

Parking onsite will be limited to those in possession of a parking permit for people with disabilities. Parking is available on the road and at Cowichan Commons Rona store.
