Alberni Valley Bulldogs goalie Jay Deo will play for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds this fall.
The Langley native completed his first full BCHL campaign last season after spending two years with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Calgary Mustangs.
With the Bulldogs, Deo went 21-18-2 with a 3.12 goals-against average and .914 save percentage.
He was outstanding in the playoffs, backstopping his team to the conference final where they lost to the eventual league-champion Surrey Eagles.
In the postseason, the five-foot-nine stopper had a 2.37 GAA and .935 SP.
He is the second BCHL grad committing to the Blugolds. He’ll join ex-Eagles blueliner Troy Paterson.
The Blugolds compete in the NCAA division-three Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, where they are the reigning national champions.
