The B.C. Rodeo Association held its final banquet, awarding winners from the season with belt buckles and saddles.
Winners in the finals rodeo won a buckle, while season points winners won saddles.
A few local riders made the big winners list, accepting their prizes in Williams Lake last month.
Ryan McNaughton won a saddle in team roping. Lane Wills received a saddle in junior barrel racing. Richard Glassford won a buckle in as header and heeler in team roping. Tyler Cherry, for the first time, got both a saddle and a buckle for his speed in pee wee barrel racing. Clay Waterhouse also received both a belt buckle and saddle in junior steer riding. Steve Hohman won a saddle in saddle bronc.
It wasn’t all bipedals taking awards from the banquet. A couple locally owned horses got their own carrots of achievement.
Kyle McNaughton’s horse Flash was crowned the heeling horse of the year and Lane Wills’ Flick was honoured with the title of junior barrel horse of the year.
