The Beaver Valley Skating Club (BVSC) wrapped up its season with its annual awards ceremony last week.
The BVSC landed another excellent year with numbers growing and success on the ice continuing unabated. Led by team coach Liz Iannone, the BVSC earned the top club at the Kootenay Regional Skating Championships in Creston in February by taking home the Barclay Trophy for the fifth consecutive year. Great performances from all 19 BVSC skaters secured the Barclay, which goes to the club that accumulates the most overall points for the competition. In addition, the team won gold in the Team Spirit Showcase, a new event that judged all skaters levels 1-10 on their routine.
Individually, Taryn Verhelst, Yvonne Gregory, Claire Sibbald, and Brenna Paulsen all returned home as Kootenay champions.
Earlier in the season Paulsen also won gold at the BC/Yukon Super Series.
