Bells down Falcons Friday in Kelowna

Bellingham hits two home runs to down Falcons and tale first two games of West Coast League series

The Bellingham Bells scored seven runs in the first four innings, then hung on to hand the Falcons a 7-4 loss in West Coast League play Friday night at Elks Stadium.

Falcons’ starter Matt Moriarty gave up six of the seven runs including a pair of solo homeruns.  He lasted three innings, allowing six runs on seven hits while striking out three.  He falls for the third time this season. Josh Nuernberg threw three innings in relief allowing an unearned run on two hits and struck out two.  Mike Gould threw the final three innings scattering three hits.

The Falcons offense scored a pair of runs in both the fifth and eighth.  Tyler Brown collected two RBIs, while Josh Croft had two of the Falcons four this and drove in a run.  Catcher Erik Colombini also had an RBI.  Brandon Grimsley had his seven game hitting streak snapped.

The Falcons (8-21) will try and salvage a game in this series on Saturday night when they host he Bells (22-6) in the series finale at 6:35pm.  The first 200 fans will receive a complimentary team poster courtesy of Westkey  Graphics and Greystoke Photography.  The gates open at 5:30 p.m.
