Converted quarterback Court Boice is working out very well, thank you, in his new position with the Belmont Bulldogs senior varsity team.
Boice, in Grade 12 at the West Shore school, was named B.C. High School Football’s AAA varsity player of the week. He caught five passes for 151 yards and scored two touchdowns in Belmont’s 44-7 victory over West Vancouver last week.
The stellar day helped Boice add to his league-leading receiving yards total. He has 590 yards, averaging a league best 118 yards per game, and five touchdowns.
The native of Seattle joined the Belmont program over Mount Douglas because it was “on the rise” and says he enjoys the family atmosphere of the team. “Our offense is a total blast to play in. We spread the ball around and challenge defenses and we score a lot of points,” he said.
Boice played quarterback from Grade 5 until a couple of years back when shoulder surgery forced him into a new position.
Belmont plays Vancouver College on the road tomorrow (Nov. 8). Playoffs start next week.
