Zac Benn of the Vernon Kokanee Swim Club won a pair of gold medals at the Swim B.C. AAA LC Championships Victoria.
Benn won gold in the boys 12-13 division in 100-metre butterfly with a PB 1:03.45 and 200-fly PB 2:22.67. He also finished fourth in the 400-individual medley final with a PB 5:19.83, sixth in the 200- IM final with a time of 2:32.57 and eighth in the 50-freestyle final with a time of 28.67.
The Kokanee’s 12 swimmers competed against 42 teams and more than 700 swimmers.
In the boys para multi-class, Riley McLean finished sixth in the 50-fly final with a PB time and new Can Am time standard of 1:21.54. Riley qualified for the Can-Am Para Swimming Championships this December in Edmonton.
In girls U11, Kelsey Fillion finished fifth in the 50 free final with a PB time of 30.71.
In the Girls 14-15 division, Meredith Levorson finished fourth in the 200 free final with a PB time of 2:09.78, fourth in the 400 free with a PB time of 4:33.18, fifth in the 800 free final with a PB time of 9:33.88, sixth in the 50 free final with a PB time of 27.70, sixth in the 100 free final with a time of 1:00.68, seventh in the 200 backstroke final with a PB time of 2:28.82.
Kokanee swimmers Erin Brown, Anika Kintzel, Alexandra Shortt, Landon Hampshire, Mateo Gonzalez and McLean will participate at B.C. Summer Games in Nanaimo, July 23-27
Benn and Levorson will participate at Canadian Age Group National Swimming Championships in Winnipeg.
