Programs offered this winter for a variety of ages and skill levels

The Vancouver Island Biathlon Club (VIBC) is excited to be offering biathlon programs for young and old alike for the 2012-13 season at their Mt. Washington facilities.

VIBC operates one of the best, fully automated ranges in British Columbia. Our experienced, passionate coaches will guide you through a progressive program to ensure that you get the most out of your introduction to this exhilarating Olympic sport. The focus will be on safety and fun, but will also prepare those who are interested to participate in BC Cup Races.

Biathlon Bears Program

Ages: 10-14

Cost: $150

Our program follows Biathlon Canada’s Biathlon Bears structure and introduces youth to the rewarding sport of biathlon. Through eight sessions we help our athletes to develop concentration through marksmanship and fitness through skiing.

Youth move through three levels (Black Bear, Grizzly Bear and Polar Bear), gaining new skills in a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment. Bears do not need to have any prior skiing or shooting experience, so feel free to give this unique sport a try.

Saturdays: 12:30-2 p.m.

Jan. 12 – March 9 (no session Feb. 2).

Biathlon Youth/Adults/Masters Program

Ages: 15+

Cost: $200

Participants do not need to be experienced skiers. However, we can make this program as competitive as you like – just let us know what your goals are. You will be taught proper biathlon-specific shooting skills from the ground up by our Biathlon Canada certified coaches.

Starting Jan. 12. Time TBD.
