Owen Larson captured a bronze in 100-metre breaststroke at the B.C. Summer Swimming Associations Provincial Championships in Surrey last month (Aug. 17-19).

He won his first ever provincial medal when he came third in the 100-metre breaststroke, with a time of 1:18.65 while competing in Boys Division 4. The young swimmer also finished eighth in 200-metre individual medley relay, 10th in 100-metre backstroke and got a best time in 50-metre butterfly.

Larson was joined by five other competitors from the Quesnel Sealions.

“All of the swimmers swam fast, achieved personal bests and had fun at the meet,” said Sealions head coach Baylee McGillivray.

“They were also able to meet and talk with Brent Hayden, a Canadian swimmer who won bronze in the 100-metre freestyle at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London too,” she added, “So it was a great meet to end the season.”
