The Columbia Valley Bighorns will be hosting public flag football games every Saturday once again this month from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Bighorn Field in Invermere, across the street from the Invermere Sobey’s, next to the fire hall.

Kids of all ages and families are encouraged to get in on this active event, which the Bighorns put on every year.

“Nothing is needed except the willingness to have fun,” said Bruce Marlow, head coach of the Columbia Valley Bighorns.

“Girls, boys, whole families, grandmas and grandpas — everyone is welcome.”

The Saturday fun will begin at 9:30 a.m.  sharp, however, so those interested are advised to attend the field early.

Registration for the Bighorns’ fall season, where they will be playing in the Vernon league, will also be happening on Friday, July 22.

“The field is already looking really good this year, so we’re looking forward to the fall,” said Marlow.

The flag football morning on July 23 will end with a barbecue and is expected to bring a big turn-out of players and families alike.

“It’s just for fun, and it gets kids some exercise and a chance to meet other kids,” said Marlow.

“It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played before, it’s just for some fun and really great exercise and camaraderie.”
