Bighorns host awards banquet

Williams Lake Bighorns Lacrosse teams held their year-end awards banquet on Tuesday, June 21.

Williams Lake Bighorns Lacrosse teams held their year-end awards banquet on Tuesday, June 21.

Winning the 2011 Lacrosse Player of the Year was Benn Taylor. Taylor, who plays on the Bighorns midget club, has been with the organization since it began six years ago.

Taylor’s teammate Garrett Taylor-Gerow took home the midget MVP award, while most improved player went to Christien Wakely. The most sportsmanlike award went to Matt Brenner.

In the bantam division, Cam Flinton was voted MVP. Most improved player was Tanner Nickel and most dedicated player went to Colton Springer.

For the peewee division Jake Ibbitson claimed most sportsmanlike player, Cass Harry won most improved player and Eli Davies took home most inspirational.

Finally, in the novice division, most inspirational player went to Ryan Hutchinson. Teammate Vanessa Bunce claimed most sportsmanlike player and Lakota Soloman took home most improved player.

The Williams Lake Bighorns were also in action recently in Prince George for their regular season playoffs June 25-26. See Tuesday’s Tribune for story.
