The Sicamous Eagles Junior Hockey Club is in search of billet homes for the 2016-17 hockey season.
“Without billet homes, we can’t have a hockey team, the need is that crucial,” says club president Lorraine March. “So if you have a spare room and enjoy the company of courteous, respectful teenagers, we’d really appreciate your help.”
The hockey season runs September to April, and billet homes are provided with a printed how-to guide and a $600 per month, per billet, supplement.
“There are additional perks,” says March. Those perks include a season pass to games, invitations to club functions such as a start-of-the-season barbecue, Christmas dinner, year-end banquet, and ongoing and on-the-spot support from the organization.
“But the biggest perk is in knowing you’ve played a key role in the life of a boy who has a dream. To see them develop their on- and off-ice skills, to see them work so hard to be the best they can be, and then to share in their success, well, there are few greater rewards,” adds March. “As a billet mom for 18 years, I know this to be true.”
