After the rain and cloudy weather over the long weekend I never expected to have such a gorgeous afternoon and evening for Ladies Golf on July 3. Forty ladies turned out to golf including daughter Teresa from Ottawa.
We celebrated two birthdays with songs and cakes. Happy Birthday to Deb Rainer and Barb Smith.
The day was doubly wonderful because I also had my best game of the season. It has been a long dry spell for my golfing so all in all the day was a complete success.
The low gross winners were Carol Hindle with a 41 in Flight 1, Trudy Forsythe with a 47 in Flight 2, Leslie Stirling with a 49 in Flight 3 and Lynda Forsythe with a 53 in Flight 4. Second low gross in Flight 4 was Jess Thompson with a 57. The low net winners were Louise Lodge in Flight 1, Susan Bondar in Flight 2 and Evelyn Lucas in Flight 3. When the evening was through most of the pots were empty. Deb Rainer scored a deuce. Carol Hindle and Susan Bondar shared the Birdie Pot. Tanya Desjarlais and Marie Hakes split the Chip In pot. The Eagle, Hole-in-One and Sandy Chip-In pots remain intact.
Thank you to those wonderful Hole-in-One Sponsors – Alpine Meadows Resort, Barriere Auto Parts and Bob Stirling CRI. You can check out the picture donated by Bob when you are in the club house.
All the KP prizes were claimed on Hole 4 but only one was claimed on Hole 6. Winners were Donna Salle, Deb Rainer, Leslie Stirling, Lynda Forsythe and Louise Lodge. The Long Drive prizes went to Babes Shanko, Lynda Forsythe (twice), Tanya Desjarlais, Ilke Marais, and Evelyn Lucas. Hole 7 KP in 2 wins went to Susan Bondar and Amanda Lane. Long Putts were made by Rachelle Chambers, Jeannie Webber, Lois McInnis, Karen Peterson, Ilke Marais and Lynda Fournier who also landed closest to the 150 Marker on Hole 9. Carol Hindle won the Least Putt prize by only using 13 putts.
The “Oh well any prize is a prize” prizes went to Darlene Nickull for Short Drive and Rose Seymour for Most Putts (26).
Only two more golf nights before my favourite night of the season – Christmas in July on July 24. The event is a four person Texas scramble with a shot-gun start (5:30 p.m.). Fee of $45 includes golf, cart, dinner and prizes. Be sure to book your carts early. My mouth is already watering thinking about that turkey dinner with pumpkin tarts for dessert. Hope to see you there.
