Cody Bisson supplied the hat trick as Team Crowne stopped Sun Valley Sports 5-2 in Under 18 boys soccer action Saturday at Marshall Field.
Midfielder Jeremy Purvis fed forward Liam Curran, who dribbled the ball up the wing and passed it over to Bisson, who buried Crowne’s opening goal.
They went up by a deuce when defender Brennan Seltzer passed to Purvis, who sent the ball up the wing to Jordan Bell, who in turn found Bisson for an excellent header.
Team Crowne clicked again when winger Aaron Keryluke crossed to Bisson, who finished his own rebound. Sun Valley Sports beat keeper Ezra Stich just before half.
Bell crossed the ball to Keryluke, who nicely converted in half two.
Sun Valley Sports connected early in the third before Keryluke clicked on a feed by Bell for the final snipe.
In U18 girls play, Subway Green had a slow start but picked up the tempo in the second half in falling 4-2 to H&R Block.
Cailin Corriea pushed the ball through the middle and put it past the keeper for Subway’s first goal. Amy Parsons buried a sweet penalty kick for the second Subway snipe. Game MVP for Subway went to keeper Darian Newman.
In U14 boys action, the Orange Dudes doubled Team Green 8-4 in a high-paced match Saturday at Marshall.
The Orange Dudes opened the scoring when Minkyun Son curled a shot into the far corner from 20 yards. Green equalized soon after which inspired team Orange to a step up the offence resulting in goals by Leon Schenker, Grady Caton, MVP Tyler Jackson and an own goal by Team Green.
Highlight of the game was the sixth goal by Steven Benischek who eluded several opponents with some Messi-like magic before clinically finishing from close range.
Team Orange started the second half as it ended the first, adding goals by Mathew Jackson and Joseph Bateman. However, Team Green came back strong ,adding three more goals.
Team Navy clipped the White Knights 5-4 in other U14/15 action with Reece Hawthorne (3) and Sam Frisby. scoring for the Knights.
Katelyn Holm recorded another shutout as the Blizzards blanked the Blues.
Coach Wendy Stevens gave props to the defensive line of Taija Krondauer, Rachel Richter, Lisa Debeor and Rene Fairgrieve.
Lottie Scott made a phenomenal a cross that resulted in a goal by Grace Daean, who was ready and waiting.
“Our midfield never slowed down which resulted in numerous breakaways fed from Lauren Rollier and Taylor Holcroft,” said Stevens.
