Ever seen world-calibre rope jumpers perform?
If not, up to six members of the local Black Widow Rope Spinners will be at the Cherry Lane Shopping Centre on Dec. 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The rope jumpers are raising money to help cover the costs of their upcoming trip to Orlando, Fla., for World Jump Rope. There will be draw items for people to enter with a donation. During the performance, some members will be completing their 10,000 double under challenge. A double under is getting the rope under your feet twice in one jump. Completing the challenge requires the rope jumpers to perform 333 in a day. One member of the group already has and coach Cathy Cunningham is 300 away.

Earlier this month the team performed a demo at West Bench, Uplands and Naramata Elementary School for B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation. They went to promote fitness by showing students what they could do.
The team attended their first competition of the season in Abbotsford the weekend of Nov. 5. Nineteen members of the team made the trip. The competition consisted of speed and power events in single rope as well as double dutch. The jumpers placed in every category including finishing first in some. The senior teams did very well, one hitting their personal best in the four-man single rope speed relay.
