Acrobatic Reid jumpstarts Celtics

The North Enderby Timber Celtics finished the season by grounding Glenn Power United of Salmon Arm 4-2 at MacDonald Park.

United opened the scoring on an 20-yard bender just under the crossbar, leaving Celtic keeper Carly Smith no chance.

The Celtics responded with striker Tori Reid beating a defender in the box before feeding Ashley Krause for the tap in.

In identical fashion as her first snipe, a Glenn Power player made it 2-1.

The Celtics then mirrored their opening goal with Reid again dancing around defenders like a rythmic gymnast before setting up Krause with her second of the game.

The Celtics picked it up in the second half, making some positional changes in order to deal with having no subs. The new striker duo of Smith and Casey Benz took over in the second half. Benz started it off after a give and go with Smith.

Benz sent Smith in on a breakaway only to be denied by a beautiful save by the keeper, but Benz was there to capatalize on the rebound.

Smith then got some revenge curling one around the outstretched keeper.

Daylinn Moesker and Debbie Henderson were all-stars on the Celtic backline, battling the smoke and shutting down United in the second half. Reid earned the Dairy Queen Lady of the Match with two assists and a second-half clean sheet.

In Masters play, the Adventure Bay Sistas ambushed the Shuswap Merlot 5-1 to end their season.

Neudorf took a great though ball from Danise Pigeau, then turned and flicked the ball over the Merlot keeper early in the second 45.

Andrea Zubot pressured the Merlot keeper to cough up the ball and then passed back to Lynnelle Erbacker at 10 yards out and Erbacker recorded fhr 4-1 goal.

The final goal came as Zubot sent Dani Moffat on a run up the centre and Moffat nailed a 25-yard corker top cheddar.

Bobbi Catt, Frick, Melanee Skinner, and Kelley held down the defence in front of keeper Wendy Nadeau, while Debra Rosher, Moffat, Nadine Danyluk and Nancy Bandy all delivered some splendid passes.
