The B.C. Provincial Championship swim meet, which ends the summer swim season, was held at the Richmond Watermania Pool with over 1,000 swimmers from all over B.C in attendance.
A highlight of the meet was a visit by Brent Hayden – Canada’s top 100 freestyler. He gave the swimmers some words of encouragement and spoke of his journey to the 2012 Olympics in London England.
This seemed to work for Alex Kussuer’s freestyle as he beat his own Blue Devils club record of 59.40 in 100 free twice: prelims 58.76 and finals 58.10. He then swam the 50 free, 26.39 in prelims beating the 1992 club record of 26.41 only to beat it again in finals 26.27.
