Williams Lake Blue Fins got a chance to show off their stuff to family and friends during the weekend with a home mini meet for the club’s younger swimmers.
In all, 60 Blue Fins and 10 swimmers from Quesnel took to the water.
“In a very busy little fun meet, the swimmers all did amazing,” said Blue Fins head coach Chad Webb.
“First time swimmers numbered over a dozen while more than 20 swimmers tried their skills again their old times from previous fun meets.”
Out of 190 individual events the “mighty Fins” swam to 186 individual best times, Webb said.
“That’s an amazing 98 per cent personal bests.”

Following the meet the swimmers then enjoyed a private screening at Paradise Cinemas, who Webb said are always generous supporters of the club’s fun meets with a movie.
The Blue Fins competitive swimmers, meanwhile, are getting ready to travel to Kamloops this Friday to compete against some of the best swimmers in the province.
Twenty-seven swimmers from the Fins will get a chance to see the efforts of their hard work and early-morning training pay off for what Webb expects to be a big test before the Christmas break.
Webb said he’s anticipating some more of his swimmers to qualify for provincials in February (12 and under) and March (13 and over).
