Blue Jays win Komox masters baseball final

The Toneff Funeral Blue Jays won the 2018 Komox Men's Real Baseball League championship with a 12-3 win over the The Brian McLean Yankees, Saturday at Highland Park in Comox.

The Toneff Funeral Blue Jays won the 2018 Komox Men’s Real Baseball League championship with a 12-3 win over the The Brian McLean Yankees, Saturday at Highland Park in Comox.

The teams had each won a game the previous weekend to set up the tiebreaker.

The Jays finished atop the regular season standings with 15 wins, six losses and one tie. The Yankees were fifth with an 11-10-1 record.

“Not often do the league winners also win the championship,” league president Tim Parsons said.

This year’s award winners are:

Sportsmanship of the year, Bill ‘Wild Bill’ Jarrett (Indians)

Defensive payer of the year, Ken Bouzan (Indians)
