The Terrace Bluebacks have taken second in their northwest regional swim meet, held last weekend at the Terrace Aquatic Centre.
More than 100 swimmers participated in the event, which saw representation from Terrace, Kitimat, Smithers, Houston, and Prince Rupert.
“The meet overall was excellent, lots and lots of great swims,” said Nesia Bare, head coach for the Bluebacks.
The swimmers competed against each other as well as their personal bests in attempts to score entry level times into provincial and national level events.
According to Bare 70 per cent of the Terrace swimmers managed to score a personal best over the weekend.
The Prince Rupert Rapids won the meet with five gold medal performances, and 904 points overall.
Prince Rupert was followed by Terrace, Smithers, Kitimat, and Houston.
Results for the Terrace swimmers were:
Brittany Alfred – Gold in 10 and under girls
Aaron Arcadi – Silver in 10 and under boys
Anke deWit – Silver in 11-12 girls
Laura Frederickson – Silver in 15 and over girls
Cameron Chanin – Bronze in the 13-14 boys
Molly Gallant – Bronze in 15 and over girls
Each of the swimmers were entered in eight events overall for the weekend. The results are calculated on their combined placements in all events.
