BMX club geared up

Vernon BMX Club gearing up to celebrate 30th season.

Chains are oiled, tires pumped and the track is groomed for the Vernon BMX Club’s 30th season.

The Ranger Park track, located at 1900 47th Avenue, is open for the season and will remain that way until mid-October, weather dependant.

Practices go Monday nights starting this week, with Under 6 riders and newcomers hitting the track at 5 p.m. The club welcomes new riders of all ages to come out and try out the sport.

If you have a bike, you can bring it to the track and ride it, but the club requests that riders do not have training wheels still on (strider bikes are acceptable).

Racing goes Tuesday nights, starting at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, May 5, the club is hosting an open house, including a clinic for new riders, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. It will be an opportunity for families interested in learning more about BMX to try riding the track and ask questions and learn more about the sport.
