Saratoga Speedway held its annual Bikini Contest and Crash-to-Pass boat race last Saturday

Megan Bergsma out of Campbell River beat 11 other beautiful contestants to win the fourth annual Bikini Contest at Saratoga Speedway, taking home $1,000. Julia Doknjas, also of Campbell River was the second runner-up and won $250, Chelsea Brennan of Courtenay was the first runner-up winning $500. The night also featured the second crash-to-pass boat race of the season. Troy Ordano (#9) survived to win his first ever boat race. Cam Edward (#40) finished in a very close second.

Twenty-four Hornet cars also took to the track. Daryn and Daryl Cahill were in a heated battle in the 30-lap feature race. Daryl and Daryn swapped leads four times through-out the first 25 laps. Kevin Lawrenuk (#01) caught up to Daryn on lap 25 to take second, but Daryl was too much, taking home another main event win.

Ted Dimitrov (#59), in the Roadrunner division, set fast time in qualifying, won the dash, heat and the six-lap main event.

Brandon Steen (#37) won the Figure 8 dash, with the eight-lap main event going to Brad Kennedy (#16).

Gilles Parenteau (#62), in the Island Mini Stock division, won the dash, heat and held off a hard charging #96 Mike Nyeste to win the 20-lap feature race.

Sheldon Hopp (#73) set fast time in crash-to-pass and took wins in the dash, heat and battled through the field to win the 20-lap main event.

Extra laps… Next weekend marks the last appearence of the Wilroc Sprint cars, Dwarf cars and the Motorcycles. This is the third appearence of the Wilroc Lite sprint cars, the fastest division at Saratoga, averaging times of 14-16 seconds. Bomber cars and I.M.C.A Modifieds will also race.
