The Kamloops Blazers will open the WHL regular season with a home-and-home against the Kelowna Rockets, with the first game slated for Sept. 25 in the Little Apple and the rematch on Sept. 26 in the Tournament Capital.

Kamloops will play 23 of its 36 home games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday this season, along with nine home games on Wednesday nights, three on Tuesday nights and one Monday game, scheduled for Feb. 8, which is Family Day in B.C.

The schedule is heavier in the second half of the season, with the Blazers playing 32 games prior to the Christmas break and 40 after Santa delivers.

There are two September games, 11 in October, 10 in November, 12 in December, 14 each in January and February and nine in March.

Kamloops will play three games in three nights three times this season and, in all three cases, the Blazers will be playing teams also playing their third game in three nights.

The Blazers will travel to play the East Division teams this season and will make the six-game trip prior to the Christmas break, from Dec. 11 to Dec. 16.

Kamloops will travel to Medicine Hat, Lethbridge and Edmonton, but will not play in Kootenay, Calgary or Red Deer this season.

There will be 34 games against B.C. Division opponents, including 10 versus Kelowna and eight each versus Vancouver, Prince George and Victoria.

As part of Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada on Feb. 6, Kamloops will host the Edmonton Oil Kings, with puck-drop slated for 5 p.m.

The 2015-16 season will be the 35th season in the WHL for the Blazers franchise. The WHL is celebrating its 50th season.
